#Saksham-A Social initiative of #GoBizLab is raising funds for a special child Chandni for early education and intervention.
There are over 70 million children in India with developmental disabilities and over 850,000 in Mumbai alone. The quantity of care for such children is very limited, and even when it exists, the quality is variable. It is in this context that SAARTHI aspires to provide integrated care to the exceptional children of all sections of society, irrespective of financial considerations.
The 2019 "State of the Education Report for India: Children with Disabilities" took into account the 2011 census, according to which there are 78,64,636 children with disabilities in India constituting 1.7 percent of the total child population.
As per the census of India, in 2001 there are 2.1% of the total population living with a disability. But some reliable agencies like the World Bank, UNESCO, WHO referred that there is around 6% to 8% of the total population living with a disability. The persons with disabilities are indeed neglected by their families as well as society. In our country, there are very few rehabilitation centers for a person with a disability, especially in slum areas. Considering the felt need of this deprived population, RIDA Foundation starches its hand with initiatives such as SAARTHI to reach those populations.
SAARTHI provides academic, vocational, medical, and psychological support to the exceptional children and works with a wide range of disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, Learning Disability, Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder, and speech/motor co-ordination/behavioral/emotional disorders.
SAARTHI School for Special Children is a non-profit institution approved by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, run by RIDA Foundation Mumbai which provides therapy, training, and education for children with special needs. The center was started in October 2010 and is located in the suburb of Mumbai, Kurla.
We are seeking donations to impart such training and therapy so as to make every child self-reliant and reduce the burden for their parents. One such child is Chandni Shah, who comes from a low-income family, and its difficult for the parents to manage household needs and the possible intervention of the child. We have 30 more children in our center for whom we are looking to raise donations so that they get the necessary treatment and education.
The cost for 1 child is INR 50,000/- per annum. Your donation can be very much helpful for the growth and stability of the kids in our center.
You can donate a minimum of INR 500/- or by sponsoring the entire amount for the year by clicking HERE
